Hi Sarah, I’m happy to have found you and this essay from deep within the comments on Zibby Owens’ most recent Substack. This was really touching and I think you’re experiencing what so many Jews are right now, turning towards their Jewish identities and seeking connection with other Jews (👋). It seems to be that it’s this constant persecution and these efforts to silence and erase us that keep us going, through all the horrors of our history and this current horror. It’s why we survive. My husband said something after Oct 7 along the lines of that when these things happen, suddenly everyone remembers that they’re a Jew. I think a lot of us were pretty complacent, especially living in North America, feeling fairly removed from the past and antisemitism. I definitely don’t feel that way anymore and don’t think I ever will again. Hang in there ❤️❤️
Thank you.
